Snow in the UP, Happy Holidays and Other Greetings, and Community Holiday Efforts to Help Those Less Fortunate

– INFORMED BREVITY –

Around the Upper Peninsula:

SNOW, SNOW AND SNOW: Well winter arrived in the Upper Peninsula and downstate also. The snowfall has made lots of neighbors around the UP very happy. Schools closing, university closings and community closing. Here we come 2025.

Happy Holidays and Other Holiday Greetings

I heard from an acquaintance that she gets so offended by folks who greet her with Happy Holidays versus Merry Christmas. Just a thought to keep in mind–there are around 14 religious celebrations in December. Maybe folks don’t know which one you celebrate so a generic Happy Holidays is attempt to not offend you.

Maybe we all should keep that in mind. We here at Rural Insights hope you have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy whatever religious ceremonies and customs that are part of your life. Enjoy!

Community Holiday Efforts to Help Those Not As Fortunate As Us/You

I have received many notes about what communities are doing all around the Upper Peninsula to help the needy, the lonely and those less fortunate. It is so encouraging to hear how our fellow residents of the UP are helping in their communities.

Let us know what you and your family and friends are doing to your community during this holiday season to help others. We would love to publish some of those stories and customs as we enter 2025.

So enjoy your holiday season and enjoy the time with your family and community friends. We are going to keep this short because we know you are busy with more important things during this time than reading about politics, policy and problems. We can get back to all that in 2025.

We will take some time off now and will not publish again until January 2025. See you then.

Quotes That Make Us Go Hmmm

“I can’t be a pessimist because I’m alive. To be a pessimist means that you have agreed that human life is an academic matter. So I’m forced to be an optimist. I’m forced to believe that we can survive whatever we must survive.” – James Baldwin
